About Spokane Teaching Health Center
Sponsoring Institution
The Spokane Teaching Health Center is the fully accredited institutional sponsor of Family Medicine Residency Spokane and its Rural Training Track located in Colville, Internal Medicine Residency Spokane and Transitional Year Residency Spokane.
The Center is a 501c nonprofit organization formed in 2013 to capture the opportunity offered by the federal Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) grant to expand primary care residency positions. Eastern Washington has a critical shortage of residency slots and receiving the grant has allowed for expansion of both Family Medicine and Internal Medicine Residency programs. The STHC is a joint venture between Providence Health Care and Washington State University Health Sciences Spokane. The board members appointed from the partners are very community centric and widely respected in a variety of fields.
